Tommy and Glenn are fucked up on drugs. Tommy may rest his soul but he was lousy live as he was cocked up and this os one of the few that 6:41 he kind of sounds ok

The work that Bolin did on the album had it carried to the live shows could have put fans’ longing for Blackmore to rest. However, their live set was instead disjointed and inconsistent. “Come Taste The Band” is often forgotten or dismissed. Hughes says during the live set they’d be on stage for an hour and 45 minutes and Coverdale would be off stage for about 45 minutes with the band jamming and Hughes singing. They recorded “Last Concert in Japan” and in they were all really drunk on mai tais and pina coladas. Hughes says you can see him about to throw up on the video.

I was expecting a better performance from Bolin, but this was the time when booze and drugs started taking over his life and his playing was disappointing, especially after the great job recording Come Taste the Band. I remember the crowd even began booing when he failed to play the album solos, or any of the Blackmore solos.... not that he didn't have the talent, but he was already too far gone at this point. His death was really a tragic loss for all of us Tommy Bolin fans, but at least we got Teaser and Come Taste the Band, as well as the two James Gang albums, to remember him by. RIP Tommy Bolin.

I took my Come Taste the Band album to a David Coverdale record signing at a Dallas record store in the 80s.. This was when he was touring for Whitesnake. He saw me holding up the unique album and yelled "Bring that album up here" so I pushed to the front of the crowd and he said he was happy to see this being appreciated. Little did he know, it was because I hadn't bought any Whitesnake albums yet.
